It sounds really good, I especially like the paperpack version of this dictionary. I suggest everybody should buy a paperback version because the hardcover one is really heavy.

i concur. not only is a hardcover heavy, but it makes it incredibly difficult to flick through the dictionary quickly.

Not only dictionaries on computer, there are plenty of well-known dictionaries on iPhone, iPod and iPad, if you would like to have a light one and lower in price, iPod is the best choice, it’s much better than any portable electronic dictionaries in the market. These dictionary apps you can get them via Appstore, actually there are some ways to get them for free but I wouldn’t teach you here.

    My recommended talking dictionaries

    1. Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 5
    2. Cambridge Audio Advanced Learner’s Dictionary 3rd edition
    3. Cambridge Advanced English-Chinese Talking Dictionary
    4. The American Heritage Fourth edition
    5. Oxford Dictionary of English (Dictionary & Thesaurus)
    6. Shorter Oxford English Dictionary
    7. Australian Oxford Dictionary
    8. Collins Cobuild Eng/Chi Advanced Dictionary of American English
    9. Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition

Longman one really looks good but my electronic dictionary(Oxford Ad Learners’ Dictionary) does have all the functions of Longman except the syn function.
btw, for yr example”…remarkable achivement…”, I’d like to ask how can I link the dark L sound and the schwa sound?
    是不是先讀dark L再順勢連la 音(clear L)?

    Siu Sir,
